Tamer Mohsen

Tamer Mohsen is an Egyptian director, writer and producer, and one of the defining voices of the modern wave of Egyptian television drama. Trained first as an architect, he studied directing at the Higher Institute of Cinema and built an early career in landmark documentary before moving to fiction.

His television debut Bedoon Zekr Asmaa (2013) was followed by the acclaimed addiction drama Taht El Saytara (2015), his feature debut Ott W Far (2015), and Hatha El Masaa (2017) — winner of Best Series, Best Director and Best Screenplay at Egypt's Cinema Syndicate Awards, later released on Netflix.

Newton's Cradle (2021), which he wrote and directed, became the biggest winner at the inaugural Arab Drama Critics Awards. His recent work spans the thriller Faqret El Saher (2024) and the Ramadan 2025 hit Qalby Wa Moftahou.

In 2022 he founded Filmkhana Studios in Cairo — a film-first production house carrying the same cinematic conviction across series, documentary and commercial work.
